Overview
Manual Handling for Health Care Workers is a practical, non-accredited workshop that teaches safe techniques for the lifting, transferring, and repositioning tasks common in health care, aged care, and disability support work.
The session covers how to recognise risky manual tasks, prepare correctly, use equipment such as slide sheets and hoists, and contribute to safer work practices — helping you prevent injury to yourself and the people you support.
This is non-accredited training. Upon successful completion, participants receive a Certificate of Attendance, valid for 12 months — annual renewal is recommended. If you need a nationally recognised qualification, see our accredited HLTWHS005 Conduct Manual Tasks Safely course instead.
Course Delivery and Assessment
The workshop runs for approximately 2 hours face-to-face, combining short theory bursts with hands-on practice using real equipment and realistic care scenarios.
Assessment is non-accredited and based on written knowledge checks along with practical, scenario-based participation throughout the session, including demonstrations of safe techniques and correct equipment use.
